Words of Wisdom
The new "Word of the Month" is PERSISTENCE. “Paralyze resistance with persistence.” (Woody Hayes, college football coach for 32 years) Have you had a good experience of the value of being PERSISTENT? Knowing when, where, and with whom it is worthwhile to PERSIST until there is a victory needs to be in balance with knowing when the “point of diminishing returns” has been reached! We have all known people who were overly persistent. But what we want to emphasize here is a healthy, balanced PERSISTENCE. “Look at the stone cutter hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred-and-first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not the last blow that did it, but all that had gone before.” (Jacob A. Riis) In our effort to overcome the obstacles we each face in our lives, it is easy to give up very near to the goal. The vital importance of PERSISTENCE in the face of blocks along the way reminds us of what Rich Kenny said here at Glen Ivy last month: that discouragement can be viewed as insidious, or welcomed as a good sign that we are almost at the breakthrough point. A Japanese proverb simply states: “Fall seven times, stand up eight.” What is it that gives one the ability to stand up again and again? After a tsunami of sorrow, how does one begin again? “If one dream should fall and break into a thousand pieces, never be afraid to pick one of those pieces up and begin again.” (Flavia Weedn – flavia.com) However talented you are, the key to success is PERSISTENCE. “The drops of rain make a hole in the stone not by violence, but by oft falling.” (Lucretius)
Meditation for October 2010 "Abundance" by Judie Diamond.
Meditation for December "Uranda on Love" from Steps to Mastership (Lesson Two—Part 2), 1936.
“LOVE,” that lowly word which is a symbol of the highest. You seek the difficult highway and you seek in vain, for the highway is easy. You seek to attain greater heights by looking away off and you look in vain, for you are on the heights, and you know that it is a valley you see, and think it to be a greater height. How long will you kick against the harshness of your own carnal nature? For love is sweet, love is tender, love is the all-encompassing God. In healing the flesh of another, you seek in vain to obtain results until you love that one so fully, so freely, so deeply, that you forget yourself and become one with the one whom you heal. In seeking to teach another, you seek in vain until every word and thought in you is naught but love issuing forth through you from the fountain of all love. Until you can say, “I love all men, all women, everywhere,” you talk of love in vain. For love is like the sunshine; it falls on all alike. And he who truly loves one, loves all, Love is God and God is love, and you are in God in all respects when you truly love all. When you love fully and completely, your every work brings forth. When you are love, full and complete, the multitudes will seek you, being drawn to you. When you love, full and complete, you will heal hundreds and teach thousands, for when you love fully and completely, you have become a channel of God’s love. God receives all men alike when they are willing to be channels of love. If one is greater than another it is because he has loved more fully and more freely, because all who love, whether they be considered great or small, are equal. He who loves is of God, and all being one with God, one cannot be greater than another, for who can say, “God is greater than God”? Love—the same everywhere, just as God is always the same. Therefore hearken to the voice of love, as it is the Light of day. Listen to the music of love, as it is the Peace of eventide. Bask in the sunlight of love, for love is the hollow of God’s hand where is Life eternal. Though these words be simple, when you understand and live them, the entire universe will obey you. The wind and rain will be your servants, and the elements of the earth shall hasten to do your bidding. When you seek to subdue the earth by force, you only subdue yourself with the misery of your own making. Love is the only power in the universe. Love is the only real power in you. And your capacity for service is limited only by your capacity to love. Therefore, O Lovers of God, become one with God by becoming one with love.
From STEPS TO MASTERSHIP - Entering the Silence - Uranda
And now let us consider the Silence. Learn what the Silence is, that through a true knowledge and understanding of it you may attain to that vibration of Peace where you enter into direct cognition of all knowledge and wisdom. Without entering into the Silence you cannot attain to true harmonization with God. In the silence you become charged with that perfect Light which you wish to shed upon the paths of others. Through the Silence you are enabled to meet all the circumstances of life with the Divine Assurance that “All is well.” Man pays forth money to obtain insurance protection for his material property, his health, and even his life in the physical body, that he may have a sense of security in these matters. But the greatest insurance of all—Divine Assurance—may not be purchased with money. It may be obtained only through the payment of Drafts drawn upon the Cosmic Bank, and these are issued in the hour of Silence. Man works long and hard to obtain the money with which to pay for the passing security of earthly insurance, but few are willing to devote an hour a day to the endeavor which provides the lasting, eternal security of Divine Assurance… Many people fail to attain that which they seek in the Silence because they feel that they must “create” power, or through some form of mental effort, “manifest” this or that. All power, God’s power, already IS; therefore you cannot create it. All that is good has existed through eternity. Therefore it is not required of you that through some great mental effort you draw an intangible something out of the atmosphere. All that is required of you is that you still the outer mind and nature, in order that that which already IS may, of its own power and volition, flow out through you. All good is seeking a channel through which it may express. When you make of yourself a fit channel, you will find that good—abundant good—flows through you without effort on your part to make it manifest. Your effort must be directed toward a control of those things which clog the channel. If refuse has clogged a drain ditch, you do not try to push the water over the refuse, No, you remove the refuse and LET THE WATER FLOW OF ITS OWN ACCORD. So it is with all that God has offered mankind. An effort to push that which God has already given is vain. All we need to do is remove the refuse from the channel of our lives, and the Good that God has freely given will flow through of its own accord. Therefore the secret of the Silence is to LET, not to MAKE. God is no respecter of persons. One is worthy as another; but God forces good upon no one. You must ask before you can receive. You must knock before the door of understanding will be opened.
"ON LOVE and ATTUNEMENT" by Joyce Ellenbecker - Glen Ivy Center, California
I would like to share some of what we generated during our recent Attunement class. We have been working with the endocrine system, which begins, in Attunement, with the Spirit of Love. “What do I mean by love? Every spiritual practice and religion talks about love, particularly divine love. In attunement we talk about love entering and nourishing the pineal. What does that mean? To me love is the undifferentiated energy -- the life force that comes from God, from the Universe – some call it the life force or the life essence. There are many different terms we use to describe a spiritual activity. Everything I am going to be talking about this morning is an attempt to clothe spirit in words. I want you to think about your definition of love. Sit with that word for a minute. Now I am going to ask you to take a reality check. Michael Brown, author of The Presence Process, has a rather unusual view: He asks us to look at what has gone wrong in our life. What do you keep inviting into your life that doesn’t pan out? That is based on our personal definition of love: something that resides within our vibrational body based on something that happened when we were very young. We come from a distorted background when we are born into this world, even when we come from a very loving family. When I was doing the presence process, I had to acknowledge that my definition of love was caring for others, or sacrifice. I went into a profession where I could do just that – I went into social work. I was born at the beginning of the Second World War. During the war you were encouraged to sacrifice for your country -- buy US government bonds. Gas, sugar and all kinds of things were rationed. We didn’t have television at the time but I did go to the movies. This was in the Midwest. So I had this idea that if I were to love or be loved there had to be sacrifice involved. We get into some of these mythologies unconsciously, and then hold them dear - like thinking unrequited love is so romantic. “He loved her with all and yet she ignores him.” What are we saying? That is not what I want to call down from the heavens into my life. So I had to look at my definition of love. Michael Brown says: Redefine love by looking at its opposite. What is the opposite of sacrifice? To give freely. Can I give freely? Now when I do that it is an entirely different vibration from: “Yes I will give it to you, but do you realize what it is costing me?” Is it mine to give? That is what drew me into attunement. There is this beautiful essence that we call Love and we are called to give it freely. We were created in the essence of love, of giving freely and being given unto – not in sacrifice. You may have a different definition of love, but I would like you to think about what that is for you. Because you can change that definition and open yourself up. We talk about the heart being hardened and closed. Well, of course, if my definition of love is self-sacrifice I am going to close it down as quickly as I can if I want to survive. But when I open it up to give freely and let life flow through me then something else changes. My whole world changes. Then I can draw that out in you. When we share an attunement we are looking to draw down the Divine so that it can have expression on earth. The pineal is a tiny gland on the top of the head. It is the first gland that we radiate through in the attunement process. It has the same cellular structure as the retina of the eye. In some philosophies it is considered the 3rd eye. I have also read that the 3rd eye is the pituitary. Is there a contradiction? In Attunement, we connect the pituitary with the spirit (or womb) of truth. What does that mean? Actually it is about giving up control to love. One of the symbols of love is fire. We have some love raging in southern California! And we are also using the water of truth to get it under containment. We have this marvellous gland, the pituitary, which starts to regulate and differentiate Love, almost like stem cells of hormones. So there is some control with that - the differentiation of love as it comes through. The first step of differentiation is through the pituitary – it adds a control aspect that can be considered truth. It’s the womb where something is created, and it allows the differentiation of the spirit of Love. Wendy Crosman, my long-time teaching partner, brought to my attention a few years ago that in some yoga practices, when the pineal and pituitary are balanced, there is a divine marriage between consciousness and energy. That has stayed with me all these years. It is called Cosmic Consciousness. Many times when sharing an attunement I will balance the pineal with the pituitary rather than staying on the cervicals. Intuitively I‘ve been balancing the two together - there is a wedding, there is a harmony. So the spirit of love can be differentiated into the spirit of truth and something more can happen. Sharing an attunement and bringing it into a service like this is a very sacred practice. It is an extension of what we are doing. We are working with the invisible, particularly when working with the pineal and pituitary. Sometimes we call it the heaven. In the Gospel of Mary, they described the cosmic whole. They named the upper portion the creative field, and lower portion, the created. I resonate with that. Both the pineal and pituitary are situated in the hypothalamus, the middle of the brain. The pineal is more in the middle, the pituitary a little below. This whole area is so powerful; to me the combination of them is the 3rd eye. You have the sight and the consciousness. Michael Brown offers us the following meditation on love. WE LOVE LIVING Let us unravel this Emotional Body Radiance Statement so that we can mentally understand the intent so our repetition activates greater momentum for us: WE: Repeating this statement from the perspective of “WE” includes our entire C.A.S.T. (Compassionate Attention Support Team) in the practice, thereby making us vulnerable to oneness mentality. WE LOVE LIVING: Living refers to all the physical, mental, and emotional experiences of this world. (That puts it in a different light, doesn’t it?) WE LOVE EVERY MOMENT: We invite the resonance of present moment awareness into all our time-based experiences, appreciating each one as being equally valuable. WE LOVE EVERYTHING: We acknowledge our appreciation for every inanimate object in our life experience, from our work tools, to the mountains, to the clothes we wear. WE LOVE EVERYBODY: We acknowledge our appreciation for every life form on the planet, from human beings, to insects, to elephants, to plants, to starfish. WE LOVE EVERYONE: We acknowledge our appreciation for every life form on the planet that is a personality to us, including all the human beings and the pets coloring our life experiences. This includes anyone we may not yet have met. WE LOVE OUR COMMUNITY: By COMMUNITY we refer to the human beings we encounter in our daily life experience that are not our immediate family, from the cashier, to the post office clerk, to the car mechanic, to our work colleagues. WE LOVE OUR FAMILY: By FAMILY we refer to the members of our birth family, whether we have met them or not. WE LOVE OURSELVES: By OURSELVES we refer to the entire C.A.S.T. (Compassionate Attention Support Team) making up the attributes of the expression of our presence in the world, from our Inner Presence, to our child self, to our ego identity, to our emotional body, etc. WE LOVE LIFE: By LIFE we refer to our authentic identity; the still, silent, and invisible inner current flowing through us, expressing itself outwardly as this world and our experience of it. We may also call this God. WE LOVE: By WE LOVE we refer to the state of unconditional giving enabling all within our radiance to evolve to their fullest potential. Accordingly, love and evolve become the same word. This is why the word evolve contains the word love. Therefore, when we say WE LOVE, we are saying, WE EVOLVE. LOVE: Evolve. The only commandment. When I read that the first time I was a little confused, and then I realized the wholeness of it all. Within this body I contain all those attributes of the world. The world is mostly water, we are mostly fluid. We have all the minerals within us, the heavy ones, the light ones and whatever else. So when I say the word love, it has a whole different meaning. What are we calling down into the earth and into our forms when we say the Spirit of Love? And then we go into the Truth, the control. The Thyroid is fascinating. We refer to it as the Spirit of Life: a further differentiation of Love. Spirit of Life regulates our growth and all the other systems in our body. The thyroid, the Spirit of Life, is the gateway to the pattern for our living. The Thymus is the spirit of Purification. To purify, I need to let go of all those layers of my description of love in the past so that what can come down from heaven, or the creative field, can move into the earth, the created, and allow what needs to come up and return into the creative field to do so. The process of purification happens so that no distortions can reside within. Sometimes we have so many distortions in our life that what comes down from the heaven comes out of the distorted pattern. How can I bless if my definition of love is sacrifice? The Islets of Langerhans relates to the Spirit of Blessing. Only as we have the capacity to bless ourselves can we bless those around us. In turn, we also receive the blessing. This is the reminder as we go through the spirits: we bring that blessing; we are the blessing – the differentiation of love. That is the first thing that comes into the earth: blessing and gratitude. Can I bless? If you stand in front of the mirror and say I bless you, or I bless myself, you receive that blessing -- rather than standing there saying “if you do the right thing I will bless you. If you please me, if you sacrifice enough the way I can understand it then I will give you my blessing.” But if I am really open to the unconditional spirit of love and allow the differentiation then I can really give you a blessing and I can accept a blessing. There is beauty of blessing and gratitude. Then there is the Spirit of the Single Eye, associated with the adrenal glands where things come into focus. This refers back to the womb of truth. There is a control pattern that comes up through the adrenals. Our stressful lifestyles tend to fry our adrenals. As we really get into the blessing of our lives we can allow something to come to focus. Finally the Spirit of the New Earth – what actually manifests. This is the created. Everything in the invisible realm is coming in a differentiated form into the earth. When we can truly allow the spirit of love, of the undimensional, and see it as pure energy, allowing it to be differentiated in our bodies, then what we create in our worlds is magnificent. I invite you all to go home and say to yourselves in the mirror “You are magnificent.” I was watching the news. Here were all the fires going on, and the advertisement was for body sculpting. I thought, what a dichotomy! Here we have life and death on our planet, and we are worried about body sculpting? What is my creation? I want to have a creation of beauty. I want to bring beauty and harmony into the earth in a way that truly allows that blessing to come through so that my earth is an example of the purity of love.
"Letting the butterfly emerge" by Paul Price.
We’ve been enjoying the butterfly symbol in our time together. The butterfly is a great metaphor. Before it can emerge, there has to be a chrysalis and, in that stage, it goes to mush. Have you ever been in a state of mush? It’s not the greatest place to be--you don’t seem to have much definition! I think many of us are still working through a bit of mush—I know I am. The beauty of attunement is that it holds me in a still place within, despite the mush. Most of the world lacks such a point of stability. Here is another aspect to the mush piece. We, as a part of the “instant” generation, want things to happen immediately. And yet, do larger cycles really work that way? No. They intensify, they bring about something new, and then we move to the next energetic or vibrational place. But there’s a sorting out that needs to take place in the mush, and there is often quite a bit of discomfort around that. If we get impatient we might succeed in creating a new pattern, but is that pattern a product of the radiation of love or is it the product of impatience? One of the groups I have participated in is in a transition process. It has been pretty awkward at certain points; close friendships have been stirred and changed in the process. I think it is part of our caring nature, particularly in the Emissary program, to want to enfold it all. While this is a noble intention, sometimes it doesn’t seem to do much. In this situation, I could see a particular friendship starting to slip away, and I thought, what’s wrong here? I’d try to enfold it, to make room for some of what was working out. Then another good friend of mine offered some wise words: “You know, Love must tell the truth.” Not in a harsh way, not beating somebody over the head with it, but that was what was necessary to start to allow this mush to begin to re-form so that it had the potential of becoming a butterfly again. I feel saddened by the loss of the friendship. But in the process there is a larger piece that is emerging, which, as we begin to know it, we can’t dishonour. We can’t give up our integrity in relation to certain situations. We’ve probably needed to learn how to be gentler in our handling of these things but, by the same token, if you think you can’t fight City Hall--well, try and fight God! Although I can’t stop these larger cycles, I can come into harmony with them (even though some of that process puts me into the mush for a while), so that I can emerge. I just love the fact that my heart has been moved enough to let me work with hurtful situations. And it is a letting process: you have to continue to let go to the next level of vibration in order to participate in it. I feel that in our time together we’ve reshaped some very holy space in this Gathering. Amongst the group who served as a Steering Committee, we realized that what’s happening is the reordering of things. While we’ve worked creatively with that, we’ve also felt some discomfort around it. And I know we all have come together in this way for a very specific shift to happen in each of us. People have come here from many parts of the world, and soon we’ll return home carrying the essence of what took place here. We’ll carry that in our hearts. There is yet another beautiful piece about the butterflies. The monarch butterfly has an amazing two-year cycle that includes a trip between North America and Brazil. The parent leaves South America and comes north to lay the eggs that become the caterpillars. The returning butterfly is a full generation removed from the one that came up. Somehow, across generations, there remains the memory of where they need to be on earth. So I am most thankful that this place is here, that all of us chose to come from around the world to be here, to let our presence in this setting co-create what needed to happen this weekend. Some of us will probably go back to mush! But that’s part of a cycle that’s going to keep re-creating what is new at higher and higher vibrational levels. To use a biblical reference, Eden didn’t go anywhere: we just forgot where it was. As we align ourselves with what it is we know now, we see more and more of Eden on the planet. Yes, it seems to be desecrated in places, but by the same token this Earth Mother that we live on has been very kind to us, and she has more strength than any of us can imagine. For me, that’s the attunement process. I’m here to provide attunement with you in relationship to this beautiful planet of ours, and beyond. We do that in large part through our friendships. There’s an atmosphere about that – like when we choose to dine together rather than merely eat. Even in the midst of all of our busyness, we have to find that place of stillness inside. If I’m not comfortable, in the truest sense, in mush, I can’t provide the space for someone else who’s going through the mush state. I am thankful that we are all here, now, doing it together.
Attunement Pioneers by Hugh Duff.
I would like to start by honouring each one present at this Gathering, because the adventure, exploration and even risk inherent in Attunement continues to this day. If I don’t sense adventure in every attunement, coming to it fresh and “naked,” then for me it is not quite Attunement. To quote Ralph Waldo Emerson: “Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path, and leave a trail.” That, to me, is Attunement. My take on the beginnings of Attunement is that it began when our history began. It has always been our Creator’s gift to human beings, to the earth and to all its creatures. But it surfaced in the time of Jesus particularly. In reading some accounts of so-called miracles and healings, there is always something of “Wilt thou be healed?” or “Pick up thy bed and walk.” There was always that requirement of response. In the mid-1940s Albert Ackerly was teaching at Palmer Chiropractic College. Ackerly was an associate of George Shears and John Oshanek in a particular movement known as GPC (God-Patient-Chiropractor). An essential part of chiropractic is the awareness of the innate; letting this internal energy have unrestricted flow through people. These early chiropractors were following a kind of Holy Grail, sensing that there was more to discover, and that, if there was a healing taking place, they weren’t doing it themselves. They worked on a donation basis, which was quite a departure from the practice in those days. George and Albert were interested in the various approaches to chiropractic, and experimented in the area of no-force or light-touch adjustments. This was a technique of generating energy through your arms and into the upper atlas area, and energy was transferred. If the Innate wanted to use that energy it would restore the flow in the body, and if not it would be dissipated. Albert moved to Toronto in the late 1940s, where he set up a chiropractic practice. I was about eight at the time. Albert and my father, Mac Duff, had been casual friends before World War II, and when Mac came back from the war with a backache, he looked him up. The whole family ended up in Albert’s office in one way or another. Here’s another thread to the overall story. One of the ways chiropractors check to see if you need an adjustment is by noting whether there is a difference in the length of your legs. One day a man came in for light-touch adjustment. Just as he was about to begin the adjustment, Albert felt heat and power move through his body and knew something had happened. He looked down and saw the man’s spine move, measured the legs and they were perfect! He was very excited, and a few phone calls were made that day. At this stage he did not know Uranda or his work with Attunement, but he had been given Uranda’s book, The Triune Ray, and connected what he read with his experience. He and Lorne French, who lived at 100 Mile House, shared their explorations, and there were many phone calls back and forth. Meanwhile, word got to Uranda, who was visiting Martin Cecil at 100 Mile Community. I remember Martin telling me the story: Uranda had been looking for an independent discovery of Attunement. He had been tracking the GPC movement and knew of George Shears, but when this letter came he got really excited, to put it mildly. He and Martin got talking and next morning the two of them decided to go to Toronto to meet Albert. Albert opened the first Attunement practice in his chiropractic office in Toronto on June 3, 1949, and we, the Duff family, were among his first patients. It was a great relief to my brother and I – we didn’t like chiropractic adjustments, and found that attunements are more user-friendly! When Uranda and Martin arrived in Toronto, Lorne French and Uranda got together and cross-pollination resulted. The new technique wasn’t called Attunement then: Uranda called them treatments, and chiropractors called them “no-force adjustments.” Later Albert coined the name “Attunement,” a term which Uranda had sometimes used, to delineate these new adjustments from the usual chiropractic type. Uranda taught attunements on Ross Mark’s parents’ living room floor. 1950 was a big year: Uranda and George Shears met in Albert's Attunement office. I remember it well – Uranda stayed in our house for two weeks. These people who are pioneers and are looked upon as great men were simply men, and greatness came through them, and the women were women and greatness came through them. That is the miracle. There are more adventures that could be told, but this is the essence of how it began, how the two roots came together, spiritual and chiropractic, merging a sacred healing art with a spiritual practice. In those days the root of what we are familiar with began, the technique we know came to be born. That was the first wave of chiropractors, and there were others whose explorations took them further. The Bahan brothers followed, and there are chiropractors to this day who become associated with Attunement and whose exploration takes them, and us, further. Attunement is a living practice. Discovery is with us all the time. We look back on the pioneers of Attunement and there are many rich and wonderful stories to be told, and we can tell them for hours. But there are stories to be told today. Many of today’s pioneers in Attunement are sitting in this room, members of the Attunement Guild and the International Association of Attunement Practitioners. And there are today, just as much as in those days, people out beyond what we know as Attunement who have a piece to bring. We sense that: We know what Attunement is now, but what will it be in twenty years when others have brought the pieces they have to bring? Laurence Layne calls his book “Keepers of the Flame.” I like to think we are “Keepers of the Fire--Stokers of the Fire.” That is what we are about this weekend, and every day, with every attunement we share. The work that was begun in Attunement with these men – they didn’t know precisely where they were going and what they were doing. Do we know any more? That is the thrill of it. There is still pioneering to do.
On sharing an attunement - Poem by Tricia Heriz-Smith
Attunement: A Way of Life - Joyce Ellenbecker
While sharing an attunement recently, a question came to mind: Why do I persist in sharing attunements when there are all sorts of other healing modalities to choose from? I have experienced other techniques that have many healing qualities. Some people, regardless of modality, are natural healers. They think it is the technique that is doing the healing: "If only I master the technique, then I will be healed (or can heal others”). This motivation is honorable and noble, but is it really the technique that does the job? I believe it is the connection with spirit that is paramount. Let love radiate without concern for results. While there may be results, that is not my primary concern. My concern is to be connected to the angelic spirit within, which in turn is connected to the universal life spirit or God. When I am connected to the angelic spirit on a consistent basis, then what I offer through Attunement can be extended to wherever the energy/vibration is needed. I still hold a vivid memory of my first attunement - what I remember most is the welcoming of spirit, the connection. Recently, I shared an attunement with someone who taught another form of energy work. After the attunement he stated, "This is not energy work; it is vibrational work. It goes deeper." One year I made a commitment to myself to share a self-attunement every day. Aside from being fun and healthy, I found myself becoming more and more conscious of the various vibrations during a day, time of year, weather pattern and/or whatever else was going on in my world and beyond. Such a simple practice, and yet so far-reaching. Try it and be amazed.
The Power of Creation - Martin Cecil - 1983
Abiding: A Meditation - Uranda - 1952
As human beings go through what they call life, a period of existence on earth, they are (generally speaking) functioning in a pattern of self-activity which gradually but surely destroys the union between God’s love and truth within themselves; and consequently, sooner or later, life ceases to manifest in their bodies. The process of healing in any phase of being with respect to any aspect of life is fundamentally a process of being so centered in God’s love that God’s love and truth, His patterns of perfect design, may come to a point of union in us. And from that union, life is born. The more completely we move toward a centering in the divine source, the more nearly perfect is the outworking of the divine union in us of God’s love and truth, and the more vibrant is the expression of life.
Dancing on the Sea of Glass - Maria Franco - 2006
The World in Our Hands - David Karchere - 2007
The usual human view is that all those people and all those circumstances are out there in our world and, for the most part, “There ain’t nothin’ we can do about it.” We might be able to try to change those people and those circumstances, and for most people, after making that attempt, somewhere along the line they give up. They find some kind of futility in trying to change other people, and on that basis life is futile. For the more ambitious of us, we sally forth into the world to change world circumstances, and in the end that is futile, as well, if we ourselves are not being consumed by the spirit of love.
Green Pastures Attunement Session -
Roger de Winton -1991 In our movement forward in service there are certain stages in accomplishing the release of the current of love. Firstly, there is the matter of thankfulness, knowing this as part of one’s commission, which, naturally leads to being filled with praise to the Lord, so that the attributes of love (kindness, generosity without judgment, gentleness, humility, respect, trust, and many others) may emerge naturally into consciousness. And in love’s rhythm, right steps to handling what is brought may be consciously revealed. Secondly, sustaining of heart and mind in openness, so that this current of thankfulness can continue without allowing things like blame and resentment to enter in. Thirdly, the establishment of tranquility, the state of purification of heart and mind, so that we become so accustomed to carrying these facilities for thankfulness with us through the day, and, so our growing trust for love and what it brings increases. As these steps of entrainment are sustained, there comes a realization that the thankful view allows the power of love to move, to draw factors in our world together and provide a new control to come, without things having to be a certain way. Being willing to be thankful in one’s daily living avoids becoming complacent. In this, it seems that there’s a need to keep checking on one’s motivation to ensure that love has a pathway to move through. It seems natural to remind oneself frequently of the wonder of the commission assumed in the inner realms, the acknowledging of this commission on earth through steps of awakening, and honoring through a thankful heart. In establishing “the way of attunement,” awareness of radiation is the first step, as there is a turning to love with gratitude to Source…. Then certain things happen. Love’s radiation moves through us and brings a conscious assurance. And as this is sustained over time, a certain natural authority begins to emerge in our service. |
